“ After a couple years of sculpting masks I decided to dip my toes in sculpting proper; the result is Daphne. I was originally inspired by the challenge of evoking movement in the fixed medium of clay. The long flowing tresses of Lady Godiva came to mind as an appropriate figure to sculpt. When it came to coloring the figure I chose shades of copper to mimic the classic casted bronze look. Her transition from Godiva to tree nymph came from an astute observation by one of my children who said her hair made him think of a tree. “
